The term holistic wellness has become pretty trendy nowadays. A good way to understand it is to contrast it with healing approaches that are focusing on ‘the part’ rather than ‘the whole’.
Dr. Gabor Mate is a proponent of holistic wellness because he discovered, in his 20 years as a physician, that the majority of medical symptoms, including serious illnesses, don’t just happen ‘out of the blue’ but are linked to challenging emotional experiences and life stresses that have not been addressed. Most doctors do not ask their patients about more than the physical symptom. Physical symptoms are precise and easier to talk about. Emotional, relational and work stress issues are bigger and more complex and multi-layered topics. Looking purely at physical symptoms can simplify the process of how to talk about pains and it is still effective to some degree, though it does not get to the root of the issue.
For us at bmy, holistic wellness is a comprehensive approach to health and wellness that goes beyond treating symptoms or illnesses. We focus on seeing the person as a whole, bringing curiosisty to their present ailments by zooming out and considering a fuller and deeper picture. Holistic wellness looks at all aspects of living – what we care about, what hold us back, what nourishes us – and presents naturalistic treatments and practices that can support each person towards their authentic path for a greater sense of health and wellness.
The term therapy can refer to different types of therapists such as physiotherapists, who work with the body-mind physically, and psychotherapists who works with the mind-body mindfully. A psychotherapist includes mental and behavioral health practitioners with various background and training to provide their professional services as licensed psychologists, counselors and social workers.

One of the advantages of biofeedback is that it is a non-invasive method for gathering data about our internal systems. Similar to an smart watch, which can capture information about your heart rate, your sleep, and the steps you’ve walked without any discomfort to you, our Biofeedback Therapy device can gather information and provide treatment without discomfort or pain. This can be especially helpful for people who have difficulty with needles and doing blood tests.
